Classic Riddles

Riddles are a sideways way of thinking. The answer is usually obvious once you see it, but getting there takes a twist of imagination. A good riddle misdirects you gently; a great one leaves you kicking yourself.

Every set on this page mixes three difficulty tiers. Easy riddles rely on obvious wordplay, medium riddles lean on subtler metaphor, and hard riddles ask you to think laterally, pushing past the surface meaning.

You can see a hint or reveal the full answer by spending tokens, but the set starts you with a limited budget: the idea is to solve as many as you can without help. Your progress saves locally so you can come back to an unfinished set later.
